Patron: Saint Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero served as Archbishop of San Salvador in South America from 1977 to 1980. At that time, society was filled with severe wealth disparity, triggering constant unrest. To protect the local poor and the oppressed, Archbishop Romero denounced social injustice and condemned the atrocities of the military government severely. In the end, he was martyred for this. Pope Francis canonized him in 2018.

DCIHD honors Saint Oscar Romero as its patron. His life inspires us to stand up for justice, preach the truth, embrace personal conversion in life and walk steadfastly with the underprivileged and marginalized, so as to live out the spirit of the Gospel.
